Advice on security-related certifications

I am looking into security-related certifications and would like your advice. I have currently reviewed the SANS-GIAC and the CISSP certifications. I would appreciate your opinions about these and any information about other security-related certifications.

I currently hold an NT4 MCSE (with TCP/IP and IIS4 exams). Would it be beneficial for me to do the Win2k security exam or get the Win2k MCSE with the security exam?

Thank you for your time.

On the security front, check out my vendor-neutral and vendor-specific security certification landscape articles at SearchSecurity. This should tell you most of what you need to know:

The SANS-GIAC and CISSP are excellent programs, and are among my top three choices in the field (the other is the TruSecure/ICSA TICSA cert).

On the MCSE front, if you're going after MCSE, the 70-219 is the most frequently taken "Designing Core" exam, because the other two -- 70-220 Security and 70-221 Network Infrastructure -- have the reputation of being more difficult exams. Suit yourself and your interests, though. You'll also need to pass the Win2k core -- 70-210 or 70-270, 70-215, 70-216 and 70-217 to upgrade to the Win2k MCSE credential (your electives will carry over). Good luck!
