Can I force an advanced desktop policy on a standalone Win2k Pro computer?

Could you tell me please how I can force an advanced desktop policy (group policy style) on a standalone Windows 2000 Pro computer? Is it something I can find in the registry?
In the Run dialog box, type Gpedit.msc. You can also set policies manually in the registry. See Microsoft Windows XP Registry Guide (Microsoft Press, 2002) for more information about configuring policies manually.
