Can there be two hardware profiles for the same NIC?

I have been searching for documentation that shows whether you can have two hardware profiles set up for the same NIC in a Windows 2000 Professional machine, which sets the NIC to full duplex in one configuration and half duplex or auto in the other.
I don't have any documentation either. Have you tried it? Testing these scenarios in your lab is usually the fastest way to get the answers.
