Can't access network resources after joining domains
I am running Windows 2k Server SP4 with Win98, Win2kPro and WinXP Pro clients. My Win98 clients are logging into my Win2k domain with no problem. When my Win2k and Win XP Pro clients belong to the workgroup (same name as domain's name) I can log on locally and browse the entire network. When I join those clients to my domain, after rebooting it first, it takes forever to log on with domain's administrator. And then I cannot access any of the network resources. I have searched for such a scenario, but only found reference to Win XP client having problems logging into WinNT 4.0 domain. After trying what was suggested it didn't work anyway. Can you help?
This is most frequently a name resolution issue. Are you using WINS on your network? I have seen static WINS entries wreak havoc on a 2000/XP machine's ability to browse network resources in a timely manner. Also be sure that your DNS entries are up-to-date, and that your clients are pointing to the correct server.
