Controlling access through AD with Perl

I'm writing a CGI script in Perl on a Linux machine for a company and need to control access to it through Active Directory -- i.e., I want users to be able to use their Windows domain IDs to access it. Can I do this from within the Perl script? Or should I AD4Unix? Or is there a better way? Can you help?
Ideally the best way to do this would be to host the Perl script on a machine that has some kind of AD control. If AD4Unix works without undue side effects, that may do the trick. I am not sure if the current revision of Perl supports any kind of AD interface.
