DNS cannot contact AD domain after upgrade to Win2k and AD

Laura, I attempted to do an in-place upgrade of one of my NT4 domains to Windows 2000 and AD. All went well -- except for a few things. As soon as the PDC was finished installing DNS, pulling my old SAM into the AD and rebooting, I went straight to my event logs where I noticed a lot of complaints from the DNS about not being able to contact the AD domain I had just set up (all on the same box in AD/DNS). I looked in AD Users and Computers/Domain Controllers and the DC that I just upgraded was not listed. This is the second attempt to get this done. What am I doing wrong? Should I just set up a pristine forest and migrate all my users and computers in?
I would recommend not necessarily setting up a pristine forest, but rather using a clean machine to perform an Active Directory migration. See my SearchWin2000.com article called Dos and don'ts of Active Directory migrations for more information.
