Disabling/removing Internet access option in printer setup folder
I have been trying to lock down the desktops for student lab computers.
The problem: The Control Panel has been restricted through Group Policies on Win2000 Server. The only thing on the desktop is the Courseware Icon and printer folder (so they can set up their own printers as needed). The students are accessing the Internet through the printer search option. Question: Is there anyway to disable/remove the Internet access option in the printer setup folder?
If you don't want students to access the Internet, whether it?s through the Printers folder or through Internet Explorer, don't configure an Internet connection on the computer. In other words, don't configure the gateway or proxy client on the network connection. You might also consider blocking access on the firewall by MAC or IP address, assuming that you?re firewall supports this capability.
