Getting 'cannot find scanutil.dll' error message

I am running Win Me and recently started getting this message at startup: "cannot find scanutil.dll." It is my understanding that this is a MacAfee virus file. The problem is that I am running Norton and not MacAfee. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Was MacAfee running at any time in the past? If that's the case, the program may not have been completely uninstalled.
