Getting error message after Win2000 Pro crash

My laptop crashed (Win2000 Pro) and now I can't boot. I get this message: "A kernel file is missing from the disk. Insert a system diskette and restart the system." I tried quite a few solutions like bootdisks, "bootmagic" applications and similar. Can you help?
It sounds like you need to perform a repair reinstallation by booting the original Windows 2000 CD. Without more detailed information about what's missing, it's very difficult to determine what files to replace.
