Getting experience to move into management

I've been in the same role for several years and feel I've done all I can technically. What should I do to move into the management side?
I'd suggest discussing management opportunities with your supervisor. Let him or her know you're interested. Take the lead on projects whenever possible -- no matter the size or scope, the experience and exposure will be a great start. Additionally, in another survey by our company, CIOs polled cited strong interpersonal skills as the single most important quality for reaching management levels. Another reason to strengthen your communication abilities.
