Getting 'svchost.exe' error in Windows 2000

I'm running Windows 2000 and I keep getting a svchost.exe error. What is the fix for this?
If the svchost.exe file has become corrupted, you can attempt to repair it by reinstalling the most recent 2000 Service Pack, since that will overwrite most system files with the most current version. Failing that, you can run a repair installation from the Windows 2000 source media.
