How can you defragment your pagefile.sys file? If you can provide Microsoft Knowledgebase article Q#'s or information on either I would appreciate it.

I did find a MS Knowledgebase article on defragmenting the pagefile.sys - Q318759 http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q318759&LN=EN-US&rnk=1&SD=msdn&FR=0&qry=Q318759&src=DHCS_MSPSS_msdn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000& I am interested in how to have Win2K clear your pagefile.sys of old information when rebooting.

Please check the following Knowledgebase article from Microsoft: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/gp/567.asp

You will see that Win2000 clears the pagefile when shutting down, not when booting up, as NT 4.0 did. This is due to better security (e.g. your notebook gets stolen and the new "owner" tries to squeeze out data from your pagefile).
