How do I remove some programs from the Start Up menu?

Programs start from a variety of places. The Start Up menu. The Run keys in the HKCU and HKLM hive files. There are others. The easiest way to remove programs from all of the locations is to use Msconfig. In the Run dialog box, type Msconfig; then, on the Startup tab, deselect the programs you don't want to run when Windows starts.
