How is SMSman.exe different than Catman.exe?

How is SMSman.exe different than Catman.exe?

I understand that SMSman.exe can be replaced with Catman.exe for client component installation. How do these differ? What criteria are used to choose between them? How is Catman used and where can I find it? Can it be used in a SMS 2.0 SP5 environment?
I have honestly never heard of Catman.exe. The supported methods for installing the SMS client are using SMSLS.bat, SMSMan.exe or Remote NT Client Installation. There are third-party tools and utilities that can install the client differently. Possibly you are referring to a utility from another vendor?
