I cannot get rid of my "code 19, registry might be corrupted" message for my CD-ROM drives in Windows 2000 Pro. I uninstalled the drives in standard and safe modes and I replaced the following driver files:
1) cdrom.sys
2)redbook.sys
3)storprop.dll
I also tried looking for proprietary Windows 2000 CD-ROM drivers and tried four different third-party registry cleaners.
There are a few different possible reasons for this problem. One is the presence of Adaptec Easy CD Creator versions 5.01 or earlier, and its companion component DirectCD 3.01 or earlier. Microsoft Knowledge Base article 270008 has details about this problem, so the fix that is described there may apply to your problem even if Easy CD Creator isn't present. Third-party registry cleaning tools generally don't know how to fix problems of this nature.
