I am interested in VB programming and graphic/Web design. Which has better career prospects?

Hello. I'm from Pakistan. I do not have many resources here (i.e. books, CDs, etc.). I am a student and doing BCS but I want to do a MS certification. I liked VB 6.0 and I have done some work in Web designing (i.e. Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Image Styler, Fireworks). I can?t decide whether it would be better for me to work more on VB or Graphics/Web page designing. Can you tell me about future opportunities in both fields? Thanks.

Given your interests and proclivities, I don't think an MS certifica- tion is really what you want (unless you'd prefer to change your focus more toward developing back-end Web services or applications). It actually sounds like you should pursue the Certified Internet Web (CIW) credentials, or perhaps some of the Macromedia certifications instead. Microsoft's emphasis is on more heavy-duty programming, and less on working the front end of Web design and development.

If you're mind is already made up to get Microsoft certified, though, it sounds like you should pursue the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) program, with an emphasis on VB or Visual Studio, and as many Web-related electives as the program will permit you to take, in addition to its various core requirements.

Good luck,
