I keep increasing my virtual memory, and now I'm out of space. What can I do?

I keep on having to increase my virtual memory, but now have run out of space. What can I do?


You shouldn't have to change your virtual memory settings unless you have some serious hardware or software issues. If you have too little RAM in the machine, you have to use virtual memory to make up the difference. Most user workstations will need less than 2G bytes of virtual memory. So, if you have 512M bytes of physical RAM, you don't need to use a page file larger than 1.5G bytes. However, the best way to determine the amount of memory you need is to determine your maximum commit charge during a typical session.
