I have noticed that my network activity is unusually high, somewhere in the order of 80 trillion packets get sent out during the course of a day. Is this counter accurate? Is XP "chatty"? I have scanned my machine for Trojans and others of the sort and found nothing that would cause this.
This depends on what programs you're using or what you have in your network stack. Generally, you can disable the QoS component in XP's network stack, since few programs actually use it; this tends to cut down on the amount of network chatter.
