Is the Start/Stop functionality disabled at installation?
I notice that the capability of "Starting" and "Stopping" the Terminal Service Client process on a domain (database) server is disabled. The machine is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 running Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I recently had a user with admin privileges attempt to connect via TS Client, but this user failed. I then attempted the same as sysadmin, remotely, but failed also. The only course of action was to reboot. This cleared the problem, but my question is -- is the Start/Stop functionality disabled at OS install or what? Is it only enabled on the PDC?
This service is disabled from starting and stopping manually. Unfortunately, as for why the server did not accept the connections, it's hard to tell without the error message, since Terminal Services delights in obscure error messages to refuse connections.
