Is there a quick fix for this power problem?

I was loading a Webcam on my computer. The system froze up while loading the drivers. I manually restarted the machine and nothing happened. Everything is dead. I suspect the power unit failed. It is an HP Pavilion 4410. Could the Webcam have shorted out the power supply? I have replaced the cord and went though all the hardware to find the problem. Is there a quick fix without having to replace the power supply unit?
What's probably more likely is that your system had a cheap power supply -- most system builders skimp on the power supply -- and the extra load from the camera caused it to blow. You should look into having it replaced. There's probably no quick fix here.
