I am 24 years old and I want to change my career from Mechanical Engineering to Computer Technology. I would like to become certified for IT, but I don't know where to start with my experience.
The answer to your question depends more on you than it does on me, and on how much you already know about computers, computing and whatever sector of the industry you'd like to work in. If you're really just getting started CompTIA A+ and Network+ are great credentials to begin with, but if you've been working with and around computers for some time, you'll want to pursue operation systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, Mac OS, etc.), applications (database, messaging, VoIP/telephony, Web services, etc.), or job roles (system/network administrator, DBA, etc.) that make the most sense to you.

If you can tell me more about yourself, your background and your interests, I can probably provide better advice. Feel free to e-mail me at etittel@techtarget.com.
