Moving Windows to new hardware without losing settings
I recently saw an article about your upcoming publication "Windows Server Undocumented Solutions: Behind the Knowledge Base." In that article, you mentioned a procedure or utility to move "Windows to a different hardware installation without destroying everything." Can you say more about that? Is it a procedure or utility? What does it involve?
The full details are in the book, of course, but the short version is that it involves both procedures and utilities depending on what you have available. There are third-party programs that automate a lot of the work, although for XP and Win2k3 you will almost certainly need to re-activate once the move is done.
