Myth or fact: need to work in a Win2000 before NT 4.0 cert

I am eligible to take the 70-240 exam. I do not foresee my company updating to Win2000 for a long time. What I have read is that a person needs to be working in a Win2000 shop for a long time before trying to update NT 4.0 certification. Is this true? Should I give it a try or forget it?
If you are willing to take your own, time to learn and mess with Windows 2000, I strongly urge you to do so, and to take the 70-240 exam. Though that exam only enjoys about a 40 percent passing rate, it's free for the asking if you qualify and it will save you $400 on exam costs that you will otherwise be required to take if you wait longer and your shot at 70-240 disappears. You have my answer--I hope it makes sense, and that you will make the effort necessary to prepare for and pass that exam.
