Non-admin SUS clients not installing patches or updates
I am running a Windows 2000 domain. All server and clients are Windows 2000 + SP4. I set my policy to auto-download and install on a scheduled time. My clients that are non-admin users will query the SUS server but they won't install the patch on the scheduled time. The clients don't install the updates at all. I can see the query in the windows update.log file. When I log in with a user with admin rights you will be notified that there are updates available to be installed. If you leave your PC, the updates will be installed at the scheduled time. Why won't the non-admin users install the updates they download off the SUS server?
The SUS Client will check with the SUS Server for available updates every 17-24 hours, and will perform the installation based on how you have configured the SUS Client settings - Scheduled Installation, Notify before downloading, Download and notify. If you have Scheduled Installation, then they are automatically downloaded and installed at the time specified in the GPO. Make sure your settings for the client are configured correctly.
