Problems with Win XP desktop on a peer to peer with Windows 2000 Pro

My printer is shared on a Win XP desktop on a peer to peer with Windows 2000 Pro on a laptop. I can't ping from W2K to XP but XP can ping to W2K. Is it a policy issue on XP?
The problem usually isn't policies but the way the network is set up on the Windows 2000 box. If the Win2K machine cannot ping the other computer, check to make sure the TCP/IP settings on the Win2K machine are correct by using IPCONFIG. If you're not getting a properly-assigned IP address and default gateway, then the problem is with the way Win2K is getting its networking information. Try hard-assigning addresses to both machines and see if that helps, using the 192.168.0.x network space.
