Restoring search functionality

I am using Windows 2000 Professional and after installing an application, the Start Menu function "search for files and folders" is no longer working. If those DLLs or other files were corrupted during the installation, how do I repair the search feature without a full Win2k reinstallation?

What are the supporting DLLs/files for "search for files and folders?" Is it possible to copy those files from another Win2000 machines and install it on my machine? Will it work?
You will want to run System File Checker (SFC.EXE) to determine if the system has been damaged and critical files need to be repaired. Use the syntax: SFC /SCANNOW. This should give you all the information you need. Let me know if you need more assistance.
