ScanDisk will not complete; PC states that there are some bad clusters

When trying to run ScanDisk it will not complete. My computer states I have some bad clusters. How can I fix these so I can defrag and run scandisk?
You didn't mention which version of Windows you?re running, but you must tell ScanDisk to scan for bad clusters and then fix any problems it encounters. These are check boxes on the ScanDisk dialog box. If ScanDisk isn?t able to solve the problem, which is a possibility, then invest in a stronger tool such as Symantec SystemWorks 2002.
