Suspicious file is causing excessive CPU usage

I have a Windows 2000 PC on which the CPU process is constantly spiking. I checked the process in Task Manager and found that WINKXYK.EXE is the cause of the excessive CPU usage. What's going on?
That sounds suspiciously like a Trojan, a piece of spyware or a virus. As far as I know, WINKXYK.EXE isn't one of the standard Windows components and doesn't seem to be a common application. Find the .EXE image on your hard drive and delete it (or rename it).
