The uninstall for VB.NET beta just hangs

I have VB.NET beta installed. I want to install VB.NET 2002. The uninstall for VB.NET beta fails -- it just hangs. I understand this is a known problem. Any suggestions?
Have you tried running the VB.NET 2002 installation and letting it update the older version? The VB.NET 2002 install should handle that. If you have to remove the beta manually, you're going to be doing quite a bit of registry editing to get rid of all the keys associated with the beta. In many ways it might be better to reinstall the OS.
