I passed the MCSE NT4 series certification four years ago. What course of certification upgrade would you recommend now--MCSE Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 MCSE? Should I start studying and taking the existing MCSE 2000 core exams, then take the upgrade exam when it becomes available? Or should I directly take Windows Server 2003 MCSEs instead?
Even though you might think it worthwhile to skip Windows 2000 in favor of Windows 2003 Server, with the halfway point in adoption estimated in 2005 or 2006, it's probably not as smart to skip to the latest release immediately. Instead, I'd urge you to first obtain your Windows 2000 MCSE, then perhaps to take the two Windows Server 2003 upgrade exams (70-292 and 70-296, which are already available right now) late in 2004 or early in 2005, depending on how long it takes you to complete the Windows 2000 MCSE.
