1. What happens when you have a 169.254.x.x address?
2. What are the steps to export to a .pst file?
3. To connect two computers directly together to transfer data, do you use crossover cables or straight-through cables? What is the quickest way to tell the difference?
4. Is 10.255.4.1 a valid IP address?
Here are your four answers:
1. That's an APIPA address and it means your computer is setup as a DHCP client, but couldn't find a DHCP server for that network interface.
2. You can export it from MS Outlook -- not that you need to. You could also simply copy the .pst file. I'm not sure I understand your question.
3. I feel like I'm taking a test! Well, you use a crossover cable. Compare the colors of the wires under the RJ connection. If the wires are in a different order, then it's probably a crossover. If they're in the same order on both ends of the cable, then it's straight-through.
4. Yep, but it's a private, non-routable address.
