Microsoft has a simple product for rolling out system patches, named Software Update Services (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/windowsupdate/sus/). It isn't as complete a solution for software rollout as Microsoft's own AD-based tools, but it works natively with the automatic update services in Windows to make patching the OS as elegant and self-contained as possible. It works best with Windows 2000 or XP.
