Without spending money for a tool like Winternals Locksmith (www.winternals.com/products/index.html), the only other way to fix this problem is to reinstall W2k, at which point you can define a new administrator password. If you have access to the media (CD-ROM for Windows 2000 Server, that is) reinstall; if not, you'll want to look into buying the necessary bits and pieces to make Locksmith do its thing (I believe that means you must also buy NTRecover, as well). This costs about $200 retail so it's much cheaper than a copy of W2k Server;however, if you must take this route, please be sure to back your system up as soon as you get it running again.
