Why does my printer take forever to print?

I recently upgraded a computer from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Professional. Before upgrading, I experienced absolutely no problems printing to my HP OfficeJet all-in-one fax/copier/scanner/printer. After upgrading to Windows 2000 Pro, it can be several minutes before the printer even acknowledges that a print job has been sent. How do I speed up the printing? It used to print immediately, now it takes forever.

The best thing to do would be to get the most recent drivers for the device directly from HP, remove the ones currently installed in the system and replace them. That way you can guarantee the printer is using the latest and most compatible driver set.
