QUESTION POSED ON: 04 November 2004
I'm getting the following error when running the Security Patch Sync package: "The program for advertisement "CR120244" failed ("Security Patch" - "Security Patch Sync"). The failure description was "Sync tool failed to download "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=23130." Error code: 193.
Possible cause: The program generated an install status Management Information Format (MIF) file with a status value of Failed. Solution: For more information about the failure, refer to the documentation for the program you are distributing."

What is the problem/solution?

EXPERT RESPONSE
I assume this is on your synch computer for SMS? If so, you'll want to look at potential security problems such as a firewall or proxy that may be keeping the downloads from being successful.
