QUESTION POSED ON: 09 June 2005
We have one Windows 2003 DC and [one] Windows 2000 ADC. The ADC is in a different site. The Domain Controller object for this ADC is lost. The NTDSA object for this ADC is there. How do I recover from this situation?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Hopefully the Windows 2003 machine was a global catalog server. You may be able to build another Domain Controller for the domain and recover from the situation. I would give you a pretty low chance for success, but it is worth a try. The best situation would be if you actually have a system state backup on the server or on tape.
