QUESTION POSED ON: 24 August 2005

I have a particular printer connected to a user's printer in the U.K. (I am in Canada with the terminal server.) In the U.K., they have a workgroup that has no way of connecting to our domain. The only connection is the terminal server. This user's printer is used in terminal sessions by all those in the U.K. in terminal sessions. The printer maps to some users and not others in the terminal session.

I check the security of the printer in a session and find that only administrators, power users and the user who has the printer physically connected to his machine have print permission. It does no good for me to modify the permissions because as soon as the person logs off, the session printer is deleted, and when they log back on it defaults the permissions back to the original. How can I make it so everyone (or at least the individual users) have permanent permissions to this printer?

Check the permissions of the printer in the U.K., not in the sessions. The session printer gets its security settings from the PC from which the user connects. If it is not getting proper printer settings then check the security on the U.K. side, outside of the terminal session.
