QUESTION POSED ON: 22 July 2003
I am trying to setup password security in the domain Group Policy Object (GPO). When I put in new values, they do not stay. After about 10 minutes, they revert to the default value. Looking on a user computer the local policy, the local setting is different than the effective settings. I have tried using the domain controller (DC) policy with no luck. I have three DCs, and I have checked and changed value on all, and they do not stick. Please help.

EXPERT RESPONSE
I don't have enough information about the systems in use on the network to provide an answer. You should ensure that blocking inheritance is not enabled on end systems. Also, check to see if there are any GPOs on organizational units (OU) that may be in conflict. GPOs are applied Local, Site, domain, then OU with later GPOs taking precedent.
