QUESTION POSED ON: 19 January 2004
When I install AD on my Windows 2000 ADS it takes a long time to log in, then this error appears on event viewer: "default group policy object cannot be created - ERROR 80070033." Also, in administrative tools, domain security policy doesn't work and gives me this error: "group policy object cannot be found." Any ideas?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Wow, this is some problem. I sincerely hope this is on a test system and not in a production environment. Be sure you have DNS server installed on the box you want to promote and tell DCPROMO to use this machine as the DNS server location. This should fix it. However, I wouldn't actually try to repair this machine. Instead, if it was just installed, I would flatten it, and start again if at all possible.
