QUESTION POSED ON: 19 February 2004
I bought Windows 2000 Pro with the intention of upgrading my Windows ME. But, it appears I can't upgrade. Microsoft says they will refund my money on Windows 2000 and I should buy Windows XP Pro and upgrade to that. But I'm wondering, is Windows 2000 a better system than Windows XP and I should do a clean install? Or, is XP better? One advantage of XP for me is that my wife's laptop came with XP and has a backup disk in case there's a problem.

I personally believe that Windows XP is a better operating system than Windows 2000. And my preference is to do a clean installation, assuming that you have the technical skills necessary. It's not very difficult, though.
