The four critical updates affect Windows, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and Windows Mail. The company said the flaws have the potential to let hackers remotely take over a user's machine.

The Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer tool can be used to determine if a computer system needs these updates, the company said.
There are two other updates: One is rated important and affects Windows Office and Visio. It could allow a remote code execution. There is a second one rated moderate that affects Windows and could cause an information disclosure.
The patches will be released next Tuesday.
