The Malware Protection Center portal serves as an information clearinghouse for IT professionals, aggregating information on thousands of threats and offering links to security tools and resources.

Microsoft previewed the Web site in April, collecting feedback about the features users wanted to see, according to Mark Griesi, a Microsoft security program manager. The site is now fully operational.
On the Web site's home page, it lists the top 10 threats in desktops, email, adware and spyware, as well as the top 10 threats detected by the Microsoft Security Response Team. These lists will be kept current every week, Griesi said. Microsoft is also making its encyclopedia of threats available, which IT managers can search to find more information about a threat.
Recent threats reported to Microsoft will also be on the Web site. If IT managers find a file on their network they suspect is a threat, they can email it on to Microsoft's Anti-malware Team for analysis, Griesi said.
The portal has also gathered links to different tools, like Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool, which checks for threats and removes them, and Windows Defender, a free program that helps protect computers against pop-ups and spyware.
