XP, Vista SPs out for all but Dynamics RMS users

After a brief delay while Microsoft addressed a compatibility problem, the company said that XP SP3 is again available for those who are not using the application software that caused the trouble in the first place.

The company also said it will resume automatic distribution of Windows Vista SP1. Both service packs are available from Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center.

Microsoft had halted distribution of the service packs to everyone because of compatibility issues between both packs and its Dynamics Retail Management System. Customers that are using Dynamics RMS will not be receiving the service packs until the fix that specifically addresses that software is ready, the company said.

Microsoft is currently testing a fix for both service packs for Dynamics RMS customers and hopes to have it ready later this month.
