Santa doesn't do Windows

Ed Parry, News Editor

It's that time of year when nice kids are making their lists in hopes that the jolly ol' elf from the North Pole will deliver come December 25.

Too bad nice admins can't get what they want on such a solidly-set date. Santa Claus doesn't do Windows.

Microsoft's elves won't make .NET Server 2003 available for the sleigh ride until April, although a second release candidate, originally set for release in mid-November, is now available as a stocking stuffer.

The finished version has been slower than next Christmas, but it seems to be the product delay-weary admins are anticipating the most, although justifiably cynical SearchWin2000.com readers wonder if .NET Server 2003 will even make it in the year of its name. Assuming that it will -- and yes, we know what happens when we assume -- we've collected all the recent .NET Server 2003 stories and put them in this Featured Topic, so you'll know what to expect when April rolls around.

Is there a different forthcoming Microsoft product dancing in your head next to the sugarplums? Maybe you're more in the market for Office 11, Titanium, Yukon or SMS 2003. Whatever your "poison," click over to our poll and pick the product you wish Microsoft would hurry up and finish.
