IT managers can start testing out the next iteration of Microsoft's OS deployment toolset Business Desktop Deployment 2007, which the company today renamed Microsoft Deployment.
The first release candidate of Microsoft Deployment includes toolsets from previous releases of Business Desktop Deployment and beta releases of Windows Server Deployment.
The toolset still supports Zero Touch Installation of desktop OSes using Systems Management Server 2003 with the Operating System Deployment Feature Pack.
New in this release is support for System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007, the follow-up to Systems Management Server 2003, as well as support for Windows XP, Vista and Windows Server 2003 deployments using Microsoft Deployment and SCCM 2007.
Microsoft Deployment also works with Office 2007, Windows Automated Installation Kit, Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0, and the User State Migration Tool 3.0.1.
