Windows Server 2008 and Vista service pack betas out this week

Rather than call the release SP1, the company is calling its first service pack for Windows Server 2008 SP2 and referring to the actual server as SP1 -- this is in an effort to synchronize its client and server releases.

Windows Server 2008 SP2 will contain all fixes, HyperV and some power enhancements.

Microsoft will also release the Vista SP 2 beta to early adopters on Wednesday. The service pack adds Windows Search 4.0 and the Bluetooth 2.1 feature pack. It also allows the exFAT file system to support the UTC timestamps that allow correct file synchronization across time zones.
