I loved this product! It is a truly portable (5 x 3.5 inches, 5.5 ounces) USB-based hard drive, and requires no separate AC adaptor. The company says that some computers may not have enough juice to power the drive, but the company supplies the supplemental power cord you will need with the drive.
The Pockey is really plug-and-play, for Windows ME, XP and 2000, and MAC OS 10.1. Installation on Windows 98 was quick and easy; the unit is also Linux-compatible. Use the supplied disk, or download the driver software from the Internet. Moving the drive from machine to machine was a snap -- plug it in and access your data.
The new USB 2.0 version is fast. The company claims it is 40 times faster than last year's model. It runs at a transfer rate of 480M byte/sec., so moving 20G bytes of data takes less than a minute. If you don't have the new USB interface, the unit is backward-compatible to USB 1.1.
The units are available in 20G-byte (reviewed), 40G-byte and 60G-byte versions, so if you need to, you can cart around your new animated feature, or that Grand Thesis on Everything (with illustrations). It's a great value for a lot of storage.
