Create a list of all installed programs in NT

When applications are installed on NT, the setup routine creates entries in the registry. When you need to create a list of all programs installed on all computers on your network, you can use the following registry key:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows
    CurrentVersionUninstall

    This key is used by the setup routine to provide the necessary information for the operating system to uninstall an application. Read this key and its values on all network computers to obtain a list of all installed applications.

    Note: Not all setup programs create values in this key, including older applications and DOS programs. To identify such programs, try searching for .exe and .ini files.
