Monitor your LAN connection activity

Ever want to monitor your LAN connectivity? Add an icon to your taskbar to do just that.

  1. From your desktop, double click "My Network Places".
  2. Click the link "Network and Dial-up Connections" on the left hand side of the My Network Places window.
  3. Right click "Local Area Network" and select "Properties" from the menu.
  4. Check the box labeled "Show icon in taskbar when connected", located at the bottom of the page. Click "OK".

Now you should see a pair of computers in your taskbar, with lights showing when your computer is transmitting or receiving data.
