Random account lockouts

In my previous tip Mapped drives and network problems -- the connection, I suggested cleaning up your mapped drives to improve performance of your systems. Recently I came across another reason to be more proactive when it comes to mapped drives.

After changing a user's account password, the account kept locking itself out. After checking to make sure no system services, programs or scheduled tasks were attempting to use the old account info, I looked to the mapped drives that were set up. It turns out the user had mapped a network drive to a share using the account's prior password. After removing it, the random lockouts ceased.
